Driving global and local change in responsible AI

Since its inception in 2023, the SRAIS project has conducted both global and regional-specific cohorts.

Every year, participants who seek to do real progress in responsible IA and dissolve their obstacles to scaling their projects are matched with experts in their field who support them. Based on a rigourous evaluation of the action plans they develop, the teams who demonstrate a successful participation and team effort to deploy a responsible AI solution and evidence of readiness to scale responsibly are highlighted as a RAI Changemekers.

This year, the project is once again offering a global cohort. We invite you to browse our previous cohorts below and apply to the current call for application.

The project’s organising team is open to collaborate with stakeholders to tailor cohorts to specific themes, domains, technologies, or regions, adapting the methodology to suit the needs of partners. If a dedicated cohort and programming is of interest to you, please contact CEIMIA to arrange a mentorship cohort for your AI ecosystem!

2025 Global Cohort

The SRAIS mentorship program offers a unique opportunity to connect with the international responsible AI community. The call for participation is currently open for any team from any location to apply, providing a platform to operationalize responsible AI principles and scale AI products with the guidance of international experts.

We are evaluating and accepting applications on a rolling basis. As space is limited, we encourage you to apply promptly to secure a spot in the next mentorship cohort. All teams will be notified of the decision after review. Selected applicants will then be contacted for further discussions, with engagement beginning in Q1 2026.

Previous Cohorts

2024 Global Cohort

In 2024, the second edition of the GPAI SRAIS project, sponsored by CEIMIA and the Global Partnership on AI, attracted participants from around the world to its mentorship program. During the latter year, the project has grown in scope and impact, and has taken strides towards consolidating a global network of collaboration and knowledge-sharing, with the creation of an independant and copmplementary SRAIS track in Africa. Among participants, teams from Poland emerged as a particularly invested community of AI practitioners, demonstrating a strong dedication to responsible AI.

2024 African Cohort

Running concurrently with the 2024 Global track, an IDRC-sponsored collaboration with CEIMIA saw the SRAIS methodology replicated and tailored for the African context. This involved building connections between African responsible AI mentors and 13 local AI-focused teams, facilitating community engagement and joint exploration of scaling responsible AI buisness models. The objective was to empower these teams to adopt and adapt the methodology, thereby nurturing local responsible innovation that aligns with their unique values. This endeavor bolstered the AI4D program in Africa, setting the stage for long-term positive outcomes.

2023 Global Cohort

In 2023, the inaugural track of the SRAIS project provided support to five teams, each developing a diverse range of responsible AI solutions, from virtual agent performance solutions to AI enhanced wearable for workers and desision supports systems for governments. This initial deployment of the SRAIS methodology proved instrumental in testing and consolidating its effectiveness, yielding valuable outcomes for the participating teams. Through a deep dive and the development of tailored action plans, the teams were empowered to identify and overcome obstacles in scaling their solutions responsibly and building stakeholder trust in their products.
